200 years ago Keats was alone in Winchester

On Monday 6 September 1819, Charles Brown went off for three weeks. Some suggest that he travelled to Ireland to marry Abigail Donaghue (the maid-servant from Wentworth Place — Roman Catholic marriages were not valid in England at this time).

On his own for the first time in 34 weeks, Keats started his final frenetic burst of writing.
